Using Dollarz

• You need an account to use Dollarz, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
• Keep your sign-in, passphrase and recovery key to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
• Don't use Dollarz to break the law, to attack or overload the service, or to try to reach anyone else's data.

Your passphrase and recovery key

Your budget is encrypted with a key that only your passphrase or your recovery key can unlock. We never have either, so we can't reset your passphrase or recover your budget if you lose both. Please keep your recovery key somewhere safe.

Plans and billing

• Free costs nothing and has no time limit. It includes the features listed on the pricing page.
• Plus costs $60 a year (shown as $5 a month) or $6 a month, plus any sales tax that applies. One subscription covers everyone in your shared budget.
• New Plus subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial, once per person. You add a card at checkout but aren't charged during the trial. If you don't cancel before it ends, your first payment is taken when it does.
• Plus renews automatically at the end of each year or month until you cancel. We'll charge the card you gave us on each renewal date.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• If we change the price of Plus, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it affects your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

Cancelling and refunds

• You can cancel any time from Manage subscription in the app's menu. If you cancel during the free trial, you're never charged. Otherwise Plus keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves to Free.
• The free trial is your chance to try Plus, so payments aren't refunded, including for time you don't use, except where the law requires it.

Your data

• Your budget belongs to you. You can download all of it as a file at any time, on any plan.
• If Plus ends, nothing is deleted. Your history and escrows stay saved and encrypted, and they come back if you return to Plus.
• Deleting your account from the menu erases your budget and your account for good. It can't be undone.

Shared budgets

The person who invites others owns the shared budget and its Plus subscription. Everyone in a shared budget can see and change it. The owner can remove anyone, and anyone can leave. If the owner's Plus subscription ends, the other members can't open the shared budget until it's renewed; nothing in it is deleted.

Not financial advice

Dollarz is a tool for planning your own budget. Nothing in it is financial, tax or investment advice. Projections such as the growth calculator are estimates based on the numbers you enter, not promises.

The service

• We work to keep Dollarz running and your data safe, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. Keep a recent download if a copy matters to you.
• To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
• We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Dollarz down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice to download your data, and refund any unused part of a yearly payment.

Changes to these terms

If we make an important change, we'll show a notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dollarz after that means you accept the new terms.
