Questions, answered
Can Dollarz see my budget?
No. Your budget is encrypted in your browser before it's saved, with a key that only your passphrase (or your recovery key) can unlock. We store scrambled data we can't read. See how it works.
What happens if I forget my passphrase?
Use the recovery key you saved when you set up Dollarz to choose a new passphrase. Because we never have your key, we can't reset it for you, so if both the passphrase and the recovery key are lost, the budget can't be recovered.
Does Dollarz connect to my bank?
No. You enter your income and spending yourself, which takes a few minutes a week and keeps your bank logins out of anyone else's hands. At month's end, Dollarz helps you check your balances against your bank statement.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes, any time. Download all your data as a file from the menu, either a backup you can restore in one step or a spreadsheet that opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Dollarz runs in the browser on your phone, tablet and computer, with nothing to install, and your budget stays in sync between them.
Which currencies does it support?
Any currency. Pick yours from the menu; numbers follow your device's usual style.
Can I start free and upgrade later?
Yes. Start with Free, then move to Plus whenever you're ready. Everything you've entered carries over, and you can invite your partner as soon as you upgrade. They sign in with their own account.
How does the free trial work?
Plus is free for your first 14 days. You add a card at checkout, but you aren't charged until the trial ends. Cancel any time before then and you won't pay anything; your account simply moves to the free plan.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from Manage subscription in the app's menu. During the free trial you won't be charged at all. After that, Plus keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for. Because the trial lets you try Plus first, payments aren't refunded. See the terms.
What happens if I stop paying for Plus?
Nothing is deleted. Your history and escrows stay saved and encrypted, and you go back to the Free features. You can still download all your data at any time, and everything comes back if you return to Plus.
